Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic,hardworking individual to join our existing Reception Team providing highlevels of patient care to our registered patients. Ideally we would like between 25 to 30 hours but could be flexible for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Tobe responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and theprovision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greetingand directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, bookingappointments, processing of information and assisting patients asrequired. To act as the central point ofcontact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiriesfor the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members andexternal agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Job responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

  1. Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system
  2. Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
  3. Welcomingpatients at the main reception desk, assisting with their enquiries or directaccordingly
  4. Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately
  5. Signpostpatients to the correct service
  6. Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies
  7. Managementof repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
  8. Photocopydocumentation as required
  9. Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired
  10. Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary
  11. Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
  12. Carryout system searches as requested
  13. Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
  14. Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards
  15. Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested
