Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) as Medical/Clinic Co-ordinator and make a meaningful impact in the lives of cochlear implant and auditory implant users. We provide vital services for severely and profoundly deaf individuals across the south of England and the Channel Islands.

USAIS is a nationally recognised centre of excellence, providing specialist assessment, surgical intervention, and lifelong support for individuals with auditory implants. About the role
  • Location: University of Southampton Highfield Campus, Building 19
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
  • Job Purpose: To provide secretarial and administrative support to the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS), providing a centralised point of contact for patients, colleagues and partners, and managing patient ongoing care.
What you will do
  • Provide end-to-end support and perform administrative tasks relating to the management of patients, following correct procedures and applying a good working knowledge of complex administrative systems
  • Work independently and manage own workload, whilst supporting team members when needed
  • Provide consultant surgeons with medical secretarial support during AIS ENT clinics
  • Communicate sensitively with patients who have severe and profound hearing loss, acting as a centralised point of contact in various forms of communication

  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records with impeccable attention to detail, and an awareness of the importance of confidentiality in managing sensitive information
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Ability to thrive and support colleagues in a noisy working environment.
Special requirements
  • Excellent communication skills are essential along with strong multitasking & prioritisation skills
  • The maintenance of confidentiality in information and data management is mandatory & ability to cross‑check data from multiple sources, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • A DBS check at Standard level is required for this role; this will be carried out by the University
