Overview

The role

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a skilled team maintaining aircraft that support critical defence operations. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise will directly contribute to the safety and readiness of our fleet. You’ll work in a dynamic environment where precision, teamwork, and safety are paramount - and where your career can take flight.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and fault rectifications on aircraft and components
  • Diagnosing faults and applying technical knowledge to resolve issues and suggest improvements
  • Ensuring maintenance is completed to schedule and escalating issues when needed
  • Supporting compliance tasks such as tooling checks and oversight procedures
  • Receiving on-the-job training and maintaining your personal logbook for currency and recency

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley. The working pattern is a 4-day week: Monday–Wednesday 07:00–17:00, Thursday 07:00–16:30, with overtime available on Fridays.

  • Applying engineering knowledge to practical tasks and fault diagnosis

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline or completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Aircraft platform training - Desirable (training will be provided)
  • Trade Principles training - Desirable (training will be provided)
  • Experience in aviation or a highly regulated industry - Desirable
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
