Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter / Technician looking to take the next step in your career within a leading high-hazard manufacturing environment? Our client, a prominent chemical producer operating a top-tier COMAH plant, is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join their Mechanical Maintenance Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a challenging yet rewarding role where safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement are at the forefront.

In this position, you'll be instrumental in maintaining, repairing, testing, and modifying critical mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, valves, and piping systems on a large-scale processing plant. Your expertise will ensure the plant operates reliably and safely, supporting high-volume production in a complex, regulated environment. The role demands a proactive approach to diagnose faults swiftly, perform routine preventative maintenance, and contribute to safety initiatives aligned with company standards and statutory requirements.

Key Skills and Experience
  • Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent, with post-apprenticeship experience
  • HNC or higher qualification in mechanical maintenance preferable
  • Proven track record maintaining process plant within a high-hazard (Top Tier COMAH) setting
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation
  • Experience with workshop repairs and plant modifications
  • Sound understanding of safety procedures, risk assessments, and change management
  • Excellent attention to detail and work standards
  • Reliable, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team
  • Physically fit and committed to safe working practices
Additional Beneficial Skills
  • Experience servicing diesel-driven pumps and generators
  • Knowledge of safety-critical maintenance processes
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement activities (TQ initiatives)
  • Previous exposure to COMAH or similar regulated environments
