Overview

Mechanical Fitter – Dover – c£40k - £45k+ per year. This full-time, mobile role is field-based with 40 hours per week minimum and offers substantial overtime opportunities, door-to-door travel, and a call-out rota (1:6). Benefits include 25 days of annual leave plus statutory bank holidays (33 days in total) with immediate enrolment into the company pension scheme.

This company provides mechanical and electrical site work, workshop repair and service across major M&E industries including Water, Power, Oil & Gas, Food and Paper, and offers a full Project Management Service including Principal Contractor and Principal Designer (under CDM 2015) status.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Mechanical Fitter covering East Sussex. This is a mobile, hands-on position working in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Required To

  • Dismantle all types of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and screens
  • Inspect dismantled components, including taking tolerance measurements, shaft runouts, and assessing/understanding the recommended repair method
  • Fault-find on equipment (e.g., pumps, gearboxes) – specialist equipment is provided by the company
  • Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, carry out repair/refurbishment of mechanical equipment
  • Work on Water Utility, Power Industry, Food, Paper, Petroleum and Government sites as part of a mechanical & electrical team
  • Onsite removal and installation of mechanical equipment, including working at height, in confined spaces, and in sewerage/potable water environments

Candidate Requirements

  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship (Water Utilities and/or Power Industry experience is advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience of, or a good understanding of, onsite health and safety rules and regulations
  • Confined space trained or a good understanding of confined spaces (training can be provided)
  • Watery Hygiene trained or a good understanding of sewerage/clean water hygiene (training can be provided)
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a team
  • Good organisational skills with strong multi-tasking ability
