Mechanical Fitter

Taunton, Somerset (TA1) | £18.55 - £19.00 per hour | Full-time | Permanent

Introduction

Our client is a leading Engineering and Manufacturing company supplying specialised equipment to the Converting and Print Industries across the world. They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their growing engineering team based in Taunton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and assembling a wide range of special purpose machines to engineering drawings and standards, ensuring all products meet strict quality requirements.

Key Duties
  • Assemble components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • General assembly of small sub-assemblies through to large machine sections.
  • Fit bearings, taper-lock pulleys, gears, and associated mechanical components.
  • Run and install pneumatic and hydraulic pipework.
  • Use hand tools and power tools efficiently and safely.
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure work meets required standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve build processes and resolve assembly issues.
Requirements
  • Fully time-served Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Engineer.
  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Proven experience using hand tools and power tools.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience using machine tools (advantageous).
  • Fabrication experience (advantageous).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive role model with the ability to set a strong example within the team.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
