Job summary

A mechanical engineering firm based in Leicester is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer/Fitter to join their team. The role involves refurbishing used machinery, fitting components, and assisting in machine demonstrations. Job description

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer / Fitter based in Leicester on a full time and permanent basis.


Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum


Working hours: 8:00 - 16:30 Monday to Friday.


Annual leave: 25 days plus statutory

About the role:

We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer / Fitter who will be working in a small team, within a varied role, refurbishing used machinery.


Duties


  • In house repair and refurbishment of machines.

  • Fitting motors and safety switches.

  • Rebuilding of mechanical sub-assemblies.

  • Assisting in machine demonstration area.

  • Cleaning and polishing machines.

  • Prepare new machines for delivery to customers.

  • Occasional UK and European travel.


Knowledge, Skills, Experience


  • Experienced in mechanical engineering.

  • Must be able to measure in both imperial and metric using rules, vernier caliper and micrometres.

  • Must be able to mark out, drill and tap, and be competent in the use of power tools and lathes.

  • Be able to perform simple Milling and Turning tasks.

  • Have basic knowledge of electrics and motors 3 Phase.

  • Driving Licence


The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a strong level of competency and be able to work on their own or as a part of a team. This role would suit a person with inspection experience.
