Overview

Job title: Mechanical & Electrical Technician   Ref 39379. Division: Asset Operations & Capital Delivery. Location: Hybrid - Maple Lodge (STW) - WD3 9SQ. Contract: Permanent. Full-time 38 hours (Mon-Fri 8:00 am – 4:00 pm). Standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to £8,000 - £10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training. Salary: up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience. Job grade: A. Closing date: 15/10/2025.

We are recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Technicians to cover the West of Thames Water region. The operational base is Maple Lodge; successful candidates can be located in Oxford, Reading, or the Swindon area.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions. This may involve diagnosing and repairing complex faults during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, reference up-to-date knowledge, and train or support technical trainees as required.
  • Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (VSDs, valves, flow, level, and pressure measurement), PLCs, variable speed drives, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  • Complete statutory checks as required.
  • Always work safely and comply with Health & Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Maple Lodge - Rickmansworth - WD3 9SQ.

Working pattern: 36 hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, plus standby and overtime opportunities increasing earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 per annum after training.

All PPE, tools, van, and fuel card are provided.

What you should bring to the role
  • Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a true multi-skilled capacity.
  • Electrical apprenticeship, NVQ or C&G level 3 in Electrical is crucial.
  • Experience in maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Keen awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with appropriate training.
  • Valid driving license is essential; vehicle and tools are provided as required.
