Job description

Overview

An experienced mechanical design engineer required to develop and customised products for the Truck and Trailer industry.

Responsibilities

• Creation of overall design and assembly drawings to defined requirements.
• Generation of detailed manufacturing drawings for internal or external production.
• Creation of BOM for special products and procurement as required.
• Customer liaison for projects.
• Liaison with Workshop Supervisors to ensure projects are fulfilled on time.
• Continuous Improvement of existing products.

Qualifications and Skills

• A sound background in mechanical engineering, with good knowledge of fabricated assemblies and sheet metalwork. Hydraulic and Electrical Knowledge would be helpful.
• The ability to quickly and effectively design customised variants from a standard product range.
• The ability to prioritise workload and deal efficiently with multiple projects.
• Minimum of HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Excellent working knowledge of Inventor 3D CAD or similar.
• Able to produce effective, detailed manufacturing information on time.
• Working knowledge of Machinery Standards and relevant legislation.
• Able to work as part of a small team.
• Excellent communication skills.
