Job summary

A growing engineering and manufacturing business based in Darlington is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role involves creating mechanical designs using SolidWorks, producing detailed 2D drawings, and supporting the design lifecycle from concept to manufacture. The ideal candidate will have strong SolidWorks experience, a background in mechanical design, and at least 3 years in a related role. A BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required. Salary is between GBP 35,000 - GBP 45,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in a mechanical design role.
• Background in mechanical design within manufacturing, fabrication, machinery, or automotive.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Darlington

Salary: GBP 35,000 - GBP 45,000 per annum

We're currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business based in Darlington. This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse range of engineered products across multiple sectors, with involvement from initial concept through to manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Creating mechanical designs, assemblies, and engineered solutions using SolidWorks.
• Producing accurate 3D models and detailed 2D fabrication drawings.
• Designing sheet metal parts and welded fabrications in line with manufacturing best practice.
• Supporting projects throughout the full design lifecycle, including prototyping and testing.
• Working closely with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are efficient, practical, and cost-effective.
• Preparing BOMs, technical documentation, and supporting design changes.

Qualifications

• Strong SolidWorks experience.
• A background in mechanical design within manufacturing, fabrication, machinery, or automotive environments.
• 3+ years' experience in a mechanical design role.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles.
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• A BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Product Design Engineering, or similar.
