Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in West London to work on innovative designs for manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience and a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar qualification. Responsibilities include producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor, liaising with manufacturing providers, and ensuring documentation is accurate. Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and 2D designs with AutoCAD.
• Liaise with manufacturing providers and be involved in final assembly.
• Create documentation for design as well as project reports.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: West London

Term: Permanent

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client specialises in fabrication for a range of industries, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the West London area.

Qualifications and attributes:

• 3-5+ years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design position
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
• Ability to carry out mechanical calculations
• Previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials (desirable)
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Proficient using MS Office
• Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
• Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

Role responsibilities:

• Work within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
• Produce 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
• Liaise with manufacturing providers
• Be involved in final assembly of products
• Create the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Update 3D models and drawings
• Input parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
• Check drawings for sign off
• Work in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
