This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the full product development lifecycle – from initial concept and prototyping through to testing and final production. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, precision-engineered solutions, with a focus on performance, safety, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:
Lead or contribute to mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture
Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using 3D CAD
Produce and maintain BOMs, technical documentation, and assembly instructions
Design for manufacture using a range of techniques including sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining
Perform stress analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and materials selection
Liaise with suppliers and production teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
Participate in prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
What We’re Looking For in a Mechanical Design Engineer:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Proven experience in 3D CAD
Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing processes
Experience with complex electromechanical assemblies
Comfortable working in a fast-paced SME environment and wearing multiple hats
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
