Job description
Overview

We are looking to take on a number of Tutors to begin work immediately. The successful Tutor with Rhondda Council will have the opportunity to work with Primary and Secondary aged pupils across Rhondda. The Local Authority is dedicated to creating a dynamic and inclusive community, while promoting skills to prepare students for the next steps in their careers and development.

Responsibilities
  • Support learners with basic skills, study skills, wellbeing and pastoral issues.
  • Work on a 1-2-1 basis with pupils; some students will be studying for GCSEs, with strong Maths and Literacy expectations.
  • Maintain high standards of learning and provide additional training as needed to support working in this environment.
  • Collaborate with staff and external organisations to support learner development and wellbeing.
Qualifications
  • QTS is required – essential for the role.
  • Level 3 or Coaching qualification relating to Education (not essential).
  • Experience in a learning support capacity (skills, pastoral, wellbeing) (not essential).
  • Strong classroom and behavioural management skills/experience with challenging behaviours.
  • Clear commitment to learner support and wellbeing with an inclusive, learner-centred approach.
  • Confidence and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different groups (young people, parents, external organisations, academic staff).
  • Driving licence is essential.
