Overview

Materials Planner / Supply Chain Planner – Derby. Salary: £35000 plus benefits. Recruited on behalf of a market-leading food manufacturing business supplying branded and own-label products to major UK retailers.

The Role

As a Materials Planner, you will be responsible for ensuring the right raw materials and packaging are available to meet production schedules in a fast-paced FMCG environment. Using ERP/MRP systems, you will manage inventory levels, build supplier relationships, and help maintain a smooth production flow with minimal waste.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule the supply of raw materials and packaging to meet daily and weekly production plans.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels, balancing availability with cost-effective inventory management.
  • Use ERP/MRP systems to monitor demand and material requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally with procurement, production planning, and logistics to resolve any supply issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery and service levels.
  • Identify process improvements to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement.
About You
  • Experience in a Materials Planner, Supply Chain Planner, Production Planner, Inventory Planner, or MRP Controller role (preferably within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a similar fast-paced sector).
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Good IT skills, with Excel and ERP/MRP system knowledge (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure.
