Job description

CUH is looking for well organised and committed individuals to join the Procurement Team to support as Material Handlers.

This is generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 18:00 service however, we run a 24/7 service and you may be required to change times to suit the service needs and demands. Weekend Working may be required.

If successful you will be added to a centralised pool for 6 months. During this time an allocation will be sourced for you.

The role of Materials Handler does not fall within the current UK Government list of eligible occupations nor meet salary requirements for sponsorship.

As a Materials Handler you will be responsible for assisting with the day‑to‑day activities and replenishment of stock across the Trust.

Activities will include ordering, picking goods from the stores, receipting and putting away the stock in the different locations within the Trust.

You must have good attention to detail for daily stock counts, good housekeeping and be able to work in a small team environment.

The role entails both manual and moving handling, including bending, lifting and moving equipment.

You will also be providing an interface between the procurement department and other departments internal to the Trust.

Therefore those that are new to the NHS may not reach the minimum salary threshold required to obtain a certificate of sponsorship.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:

  • Applied for a Graduate visa
  • Or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment
  • Or the Trust has agreed that they will Sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment
