OVERVIEW

Lawes are currently partnered with a leading insurer who due to expansion have an exciting opportunity for a Development Underwriter to join their Marine Cargo team. This role will involve helping to promote their cargo products to the London market brokers to include their new multinational offering as well as holding your own underwriting authority. Our client is also considering brokers who would like to transition into a career in Underwriting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Development Underwriter – Marine Cargo, you will:

  • Support the Class Underwriter in executing the Marine Cargo underwriting strategy
  • Support the underwriting team in maintaining and growing the existing portfolio.
  • Develop and manage strong relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Help promote their cargo products to the London market brokers to include their new multinational offering.
  • Collaborate with the Class Underwriter to execute strategic initiatives.
TO EXCEL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BRING:
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant underwriting experience.
  • Expertise and technical knowledge in underwriting marine cargo.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
