Job description
Manufacturing Stores Manager

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Stores Manager to lead our stores and logistics operation within a highly regulated aerospace and defence environment.

As Manufacturing Stores Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and compliant flow of materials from goods‑in through to production and dispatch. You will manage a team of 9 Material Controllers, overseeing daily stores activities, coordinating shipments, and maintaining full traceability of materials.

The Manufacturing Stores Manager will monitor key logistics KPIs, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and work closely with Purchasing, Production, and Customer Services to resolve material issues and improve service levels.

The ideal candidate for this Manufacturing Stores Manager role will have proven experience in logistics or stores management within aerospace, defence, or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment, strong leadership skills, and hands‑on experience with MRP/ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and manage the team of Material Controllers, ensuring effective workload allocation and performance.
  • Oversee Goods In, Stores, and Dispatch operations for timely and accurate material processing.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments with couriers and third‑party shipping agents.
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace standards, quality procedures, and export/import regulations.
  • Monitor KPIs including material receipts, dispatch transactions, kit shortages, and cycle counting.
  • Support inventory accuracy, stock checks, shelf‑life monitoring, and excess & obsolete (E&O) reduction initiatives.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement solutions.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Manufacturing Stores Manager or in a similar role within aerospace, defence, or regulated manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a hands‑on operational mindset.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of export control, customs, and courier/freight operations.
  • Focus on operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
