What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for developing and improving our manufacturing processes, ensuring the line operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Your focus will include SOPs, BOP, line balance, tooling and equipment, as well as driving measurable improvements in efficiency and OEE.

Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Documentation
  • Create, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Bill of Process (BOP) for all assembly operations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate work instructions to ensure repeatability and right-first-time quality.
Line Balance & Efficiency
  • Analyse and optimise line balance to meet takt time and volume requirements.
  • Deliver year-on-year 5% productivity improvement through process optimisation, layout improvements, and waste elimination.
  • Lead time studies and implement Lean methodologies to improve flow and reduce bottlenecks.
Tooling & Equipment
  • Specify, source, and implement tooling, jigs, and equipment to support stable and efficient operations.
  • Ensure tooling and equipment are fit-for-purpose, well-maintained, and compliant with HSE standards.
  • Support new product and variant introduction with robust tooling and process changes.
Operational Excellence & OEE
  • Track, analyse, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across the plant.
  • Implement countermeasures to reduce downtime, improve quality, and increase throughput.
  • Drive structured problem-solving (5-Why, Ishikawa, etc.) and root cause analysis.
Continuous Improvement
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and TPS principles across the shop floor.
  • Support the development of visual management, standardised work, and kaizen activities.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale (SQDCM).
What we’re looking for
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role, within automotive assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Experience with SOP/BOP creation, time studies, and line balancing.
  • Practical knowledge of OEE tracking and improvement.
  • Confident in tooling/equipment specification and supplier liaison.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on, detail-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
