Are you a skilled Manufacturing Engineer looking to work on some of the UK's most significant and technically challenging nuclear programmes? We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven professional to join our dynamic team, supporting critical projects across the UK Submarine programme, the existing nuclear generation fleet, decommissioning operations, and high-integrity structures for new nuclear establishments.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for safety‑critical and high‑integrity components, helping to shape the future of the UK's nuclear capability.

About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will develop efficient, high‑quality manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement across our operations. You will play a key role in ensuring that designs are optimised for manufacture and that all work adheres to rigorous industry and nuclear safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, optimise, and validate manufacturing processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Collaborate closely with design and production teams to ensure product manufacturability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and deliver effective corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and nuclear sector standards.
  • Produce essential technical documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and technical instructions.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
About You

You will be a proactive and detail‑oriented engineer with strong technical capability and a passion for delivering high‑integrity engineering solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively, and are confident managing work to time, quality, and cost targets.

Requirements
  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing within nuclear or other high‑integrity, safety‑critical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of welding/joining technologies and understanding of weld qualification and NDT processes.
  • Hands‑on experience with Design for Manufacture (DfM), CAD, and simulation tools.
  • Background in precision fabrication, tolerancing, and working with nuclear‑grade materials (e.g., stainless steel, Inconel, zirconium alloys).
  • Proven track record in process development and optimisation.
  • Experience with SAP (Systems Applications and Products).
  • Understanding of Dimensional Characteristic Matrix (DCM), Feature Verification Risk Assessment (FVRA), and Process FMEA.
  • Familiarity with nuclear sector design codes, including ASME Section III.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on‑site at our Derby locations.

If you're ready to apply your expertise to high‑integrity, nationally significant engineering programmes, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help us engineer a safer, smarter nuclear future.
