Responsibilities

Role summary

The role of Management Accountant – Inventory involves performing the SAP controlling module month-end procedures and related management accounts reporting requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the SAP materials ledger including daily management and review of costings, stock variances and timely resolution of errors while ensuring Amcor policies and procedures are followed for inventory accounting. You will also provide cover for management accountant - overheads role as/when required.

Materials ledger management

  • Responsible for maintaining SAP materials ledger and ensuring correct and timely financial reporting of inventory and material costs.
  • Closely monitor the materials ledger for variances against standard costings to ensure that we maintain an accurate stock valuation and gross margin position. Validate product costing for new products, product changes.

Month End

  • Close materials ledger in SAP atlas. Completion of key checks and reports for materials ledger close, ensuring accuracy and integrity of COS and stock data.
  • Prepare and calculate inventory provisions – aging, NRV, quality & trials. Run provisions reports in SAP BI, review and discuss with planning / operations and adjust where necessary.
  • Prepare monthly cost of sales and stock reporting and maintain key SOX and reporting controls.
  • Completion of inventory balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Monthly waste reporting.
  • Zero overrun machine hrs and upload future prices.
  • Work with other departments to quickly resolve SAP costings anomalies impacting the value of stock.
  • Supporting planning manager with monthly stock counts and calculate value of any adjustment required. Accompanying external auditors for year-end stock count.
  • Weekly inventory position reporting.
  • Support with internal & external audit requests and samples.
  • Other ad hoc finance tasks as requested by plant financial controller.

Other requirements

  • Preparation of other site MI.
  • Ensure Amcor policies and procedures are followed for inventory accounting.
  • Provide cover for management accountant overheads role as/when required, and training management accountant overheads to provide cover for inventory.
  • Quality
    • Basic knowledge of quality standards, data integrity, and the importance of maintaining product integrity.
    • Strict adherence to the organization’s hygiene rules, understanding the importance of personal hygiene and wearing appropriate protective gear to avoid compromising product quality.
