Management Accountant

Our client is a leading UK fresh produce grower, operating multiple large scale, high tech greenhouse sites across the South and East of England. The business supplies major UK retailers year round with British grown tomatoes and cucumbers, produced using advanced glasshouse technology.

They are now looking for a Management Accountant to join their finance team. Based in Norwich, the finance function plays a critical role in supporting the wider operation, working closely with both site-based teams and senior leadership.

The Role

This is a hands‑on Management Accountant position within a fresh produce business, offering the opportunity to support the finance function on a day‑to‑day basis. You will be supporting the business with accurate reporting, insight, and strong financial control. This role will suit someone self‑motivated, and confident in managing priorities independently.

While the position covers core management accounting responsibilities, it also involves supporting transactional finance activities and working closely with operational teams. There is genuine scope for the role to develop further, depending on your capability and appetite for responsibility.

Main Responsibilities

• Preparation of weekly and monthly accounts, including full monthly management accounts
• Supporting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Producing clear, meaningful management information and commentary for the senior management team.
• Supporting strategic and operational decision‑making through detailed financial analysis
• Challenging existing processes to improve efficiency and add value across operations
• Identifying cost‑saving opportunities and implementing effective cost control measures
• Supporting with day to day financial transactions
• Monitoring and managing inventory levels to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Working alongside site operations teams to deliver financial and commercial insight
• Supporting continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and controls
• Contributing to wider Finance team initiatives to support business growth and efficiency

Required

• Proven experience in a Management Accountant or similar hands‑on accounting role
• Fully qualified (CIMA / ACA / ACCA), part‑qualified, or Qualified by Experience
• Experience within fresh produce, food manufacturing, or FMCG is essential
• Comfortable working autonomously with minimal day‑to‑day supervision
• Organised, efficient, and capable of thriving in a fast‑paced, operational environment
