Management Accountant – Heron Foods

Salary: Up to circa £43,000 per annum plus private pension scheme, private medical cover (including dental and optical cash benefit), income protection, and life assurance.

Location: Hull (office based at Melton, HU14 3HJ)

About the Role

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join the Commercial Finance team at Heron Foods, part of the B&M Group. In this role, you’ll report directly to the Commercial Finance Manager, working within a fast-paced Finance department. You’ll play a key part in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, supporting decision-making, and driving commercial insight across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc management information.
• Deliver timely and accurate analysis of financial data.
• Support the Commercial Finance Manager in producing management accounts and monthly reporting within tight deadlines.
• Investigate and report on variances to budget.
• Complete VAT returns and relevant VAT journals.
• Reconcile intercompany trading accounts.
• Provide insightful analysis to internal stakeholders to enhance decision-making.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness and excellent communication abilities.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Part or fully qualified CIMA or ACCA.
• Previous experience in a similar role or ready to take the next step in your career.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large volumes of data.
• Highly organised, efficient, and able to meet deadlines.
• Fully IT literate, particularly in Excel.
• Ability to identify weaknesses and suggest improvements.
