V.Ships Leisure is looking for Maitre D'Hotel on behalf of Orient Express Sailing Yachts. The Maître D’ oversees and manages the performance of selected food venues. Acting as the conductor, the Maître D’ ensures a smooth and seamless food & beverage operation while ensuring the service team is performing at the highest level and is able to engage and create memorable moments for guests. The Maître D’ greets customers, supervises restaurant staff and ensures that top quality standards of service are met. The Maitre D also supervises the crew mess operation on a rotational basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages the service of dining venues and supports the Restaurant Director in the supervision of Restaurant venues.
  • Collects and ensures compliance with the allergy and dining preferences, and communicates such info to the galley team, butlers and bar team.
  • Provides technically proficient, efficient and personalized luxury food and beverage service to guests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Prepare and perform F&B activities (i.e. cocktail parties and Tea Time) and special events, as assigned.
  • Ensures the necessary tasks have been carried out to ensure the dining venues open.
  • Anticipates the needs of guests by ensuring all products, equipment and supplies are readily available before and during service, that menus are accurate and all product is available, and immediately responds to needs of all guests.
  • Ensures proper inventory including requisitions, receiving, moving and stocking product in accordance with first in, first out (FIFO).
  • Ensures compliance with Public Health and all Safety and Labor Regulations. Prepares for and assists with all sanitation and Public Health inspections.
  • Oversees and supports the execution of special events.
  • Hands-on execution of the day-to-day operations of the Restaurant venues.
  • Sets the restaurant venue’s expectations for desired behavior, knowledge and skill levels.
  • Coaches others by providing constructive feedback; helps others identify developmental needs and monitors progress; promoting an environment where everyone is valued and included.
  • Manages the service team in all restaurant venues as needed, including assisting the Director of Restaurant in training, disciplinary procedures, promotions, staff evaluations.
  • Active participation in onboard training programs.
  • Additional duties, not mentioned here, will be expected as per management request.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
  • Languages: Fluent English plus one additional international language required.
  • Education: High school degree or related. Formal hospitality/Hotel school training required.
  • Previous professional experience: 3 years in a similar capacity in a luxury environment.
  • Shipboard experience: No but preferred.
  • Valid STCW certificates.
  • Valid Pre-Employment Medical.
  • C1D visa mandatory for all positions.
