Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in Exeter is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician for a permanent, full-time position. Multiskilled Maintenance Technician

Location: Exeter, Devon
Salary: £45,000 - £47,500 per annum
Shift: Weekly three-shift rotation, Monday to Friday (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am alternating)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role

Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting for a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician on behalf of a leading employer in the Exeter area. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking maintenance team in a permanent, full-time role with a structured shift pattern and excellent salary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimise production downtime by troubleshooting breakdowns and preventing reoccurrences.
  • Work with electrical and mechanical drawings and documentation to undertake fault finding and modification of plant and equipment.
  • Use a Maintenance Management System to carry out preventative and planned maintenance work.
  • Contribute to improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and reducing recurring issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all company EHS policies.
  • Continuously enhance job knowledge through training and development opportunities.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical work, including fabrication, welding, and minor electrical installation as required.
Requirements
  • Completion of a time-served apprenticeship with a minimum Level 3 qualification (BTEC/City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Recent experience demonstrating multiskilled proficiency in electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, fabrication, and welding.
  • Experience in vacuum technology is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proven competency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical diagrams, as well as troubleshooting control panels.
  • Ability to pass a medical assessment, including working at height and in confined spaces.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with office software applications.
  • Resilient, resourceful approach with sound judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive work ethic, strong initiative, and the ability to operate independently within a shift team environment.

Candidates who are single-skilled (Industrial Electrician or Mechanical Fitter) with relevant experience will also be considered.
