Job description
Responsibilities
  • Deliver achievement through effective performance management of the engineering maintenance team using coaching, mentoring, and communication.
  • Liaise with individuals and management using an open and communicative approach to gain buy-in and promote a learning, innovative, and continuously improving culture.
  • Ensure all maintenance team members are fully cross‑trained and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge.
  • Electrically and mechanically maintain and repair all factory equipment.
  • Electrically and mechanically maintain and repair all site support and ancillary equipment (e.g., chillers, compressors, sprinklers).
  • Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) is properly scheduled and completed on all factory equipment.
  • Carry out electrical installation work, inspection, and testing according to 17th edition regulations (BS1761).
  • Keep the engineering workshop clean, safe, and well‑organised.
  • Implement and maintain 5S systems and shadow boards across the engineering department and site.
  • Attend monthly Problem Resolution Meetings.
  • Participate in and lead electrical, mechanical, and other site projects, including engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain sufficient electrical and mechanical spares and consumables on site for all factory machinery.
  • Ensure a strong safety culture within the team and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Carry out calibration and maintain records for temperature controllers, width detectors, tension towers, etc.
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices are always followed.
  • Report any Health & Safety issues to Supervisors or Management.
  • Plan and manage holidays and call‑out coverage within the Maintenance team to ensure optimal site coverage.
  • Assist with people development and upskilling by creating and delivering appropriate training programmes.
Requirements
  • Time served or equivalent engineer with either a mechanical or electrical bias.
  • Proven experience working in a supervisory, off‑the‑tools capacity‑responsible for ordering tools and equipment, managing stock levels, coordinating suppliers, and ensuring all materials required for maintenance tasks are available.
