Maintenance Team Leader

Salary: £58,268 pa, company pension scheme, with highly competitive contribution rates, 22.5 days annual leave, plus bank holidays. Permanent, Full time. Northern Ireland Mail Centre, Newtownabbey, BT36 4HQ.

Our Engineering vision is blossoming with the establishment of an in-house engineering design team focussed on innovation; transforming operational processes to improve the pace and quality we provide for customers as well as help us to achieve the business net zero strategy. With some exciting improvements deployed and more underway, the demand is growing for us to scale up across the business.

We have a vacancy to join our dedicated Engineering team at the Northern Ireland Mail Centre.

In this key role, you'll provide first line technical leadership, guidance and support to engineers across the Mail Centre, ensuring our automation equipment performs at its very best.

As a leader within our engineering function, you'll be responsible for delivering a high quality maintenance service that keeps our operation running smoothly and efficiently. You'll take ownership of the Mail Centre maintenance plan, ensuring our automation assets consistently meet performance and availability targets.

Attendance

Monday to Friday, approx 07:30 – 16:00 with a degree of flexibility.

Duties
  • Manage a team of automation engineers and team coaches – develop, motivate the team through coaching, training and development.
  • Own and co-ordinate the Mail Centre maintenance plan for automation equipment, ensuring that the asset performance and availability design criteria is achieved.
  • Lead daily preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance to optimise automation assets.
  • Act as the technical link between engineering and operations, communicate maintenance plans and updates to the engineering teams.
  • Oversee implementation of approved equipment modifications and maintain configuration accuracy.
  • Conduct audits, support reporting, data collection and root cause analysis for all maintenance/performance events and faults.
  • Manage engineering risk assessments and ensure Safe Systems of Work are accurate and displayed.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and manage engineering tools and spares using SAP.
  • Ensure technical resources meet operational and maintenance demands.
  • Have a hand‑on approach and support ad‑hoc maintenance, modification duties.
About You
  • Extensive background in automation engineering and maintenance.
  • Hold an electrical engineering qualification – NVQ 3/ONC/HNC or equivalent (essential).
  • Experienced at leading large teams of engineers, providing technical leadership, guidance and support to the team and senior stakeholders.
  • Reporting, data analysis and experience of using SAP based systems.
