Overview

Located in the heart of South Wales, this role places you in the centre of NHS operations across Cardiff, Newport and Swansea. The Health Board, part of NHS Wales, employs over 13,500 staff and runs three district general hospitals and several community facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the effective, efficient and safe operation of the Health Board’s mechanical, electrical and building infrastructure and oversight of associated craftsmen.
  • Provide technical advice, training and support to staff as required.
  • Oversee maintenance repairs, minor works and planned preventative maintenance.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, building craftsmen, semi‑skilled staff and contract staff, ensuring compliance with the Board’s standards, policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • UK or Republic of Ireland nationality, or eligibility for a Health and Care Visa or a Skilled Worker Visa.
  • Experience managing a multidisciplinary engineering team and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Keen understanding of health and safety requirements within a health care environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Welsh language skills (Level 3 CEFR B2 or above) are desirable but not essential.
  • Eligibility for sponsorship is self‑assessed via the UK Government’s guidance and the Health and Care Visa offers reduced costs and exemptions from the Immigration Health Surcharge.
  • Will undergo disclosure, barring and professional registration checks where required.
