Overview

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic. We are seeking dedicated General Maintenance Mechanics (GMMs) to join our team at the plant. This role involves participating in an 8,000-hour, company-funded Department of Labor Maintenance Mechanic apprenticeship program. The primary responsibilities include preventive and reactive maintenance on plant machinery and equipment, as well as performing greasing and PMs on bearings, conveyors, and rollers. The environment is similar to a foundry, characterized by high temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventive and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Perform greasing and PMs on bearings, conveyors, and rollers.
  • Engage in electrical troubleshooting and repair, if applicable.
  • Participate in the breakdown and teardown of lines as part of plant upgrades.
  • Interact with outside contractors during maintenance activities.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience in mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, welding, schematics, hydraulics, electro-mechanical and pneumatics.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and pass two mechanical tests (SAM + B-MAR).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior industrial maintenance experience is .

Work Environment

The role is based in a glass manufacturing environment, which is extremely hot, dirty, dusty, and loud due to the presence of two furnaces reaching up to 2800 degrees Fahrenheit. Safety is a priority, with a rigorous respirator program in place for areas with potential respiratory exposure. The maintenance team consists of around 58 members, fostering a stable and collaborative culture. The position involves rotating 12-hour shifts, including both day and night schedules, with a structured pay schedule and night shift differential. All necessary personal protective equipment, including footwear and eyewear, is provided.
