Job description
Overview

Global Highland is delighted to be recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer - Electrician to join their clients facilities team based in Lerwick, Shetland. You\'ll be joining a team committed to excellence, safety, and long-term sustainability. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced electrician to contribute to a high-quality facilities management service in an important educational setting.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the facilities meet the performance standards agreed in the contract between our client and their client.
  • Carry out planned, reactive, and cyclical electrical maintenance work under the direction of the Team Leader.
  • Operate and maintain all plant, tools, and equipment safely and in compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset logs, and helpdesk reports, escalating follow-up actions to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing 24/7 cover on a rotational basis.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or near misses appropriately.
  • Support the wider facilities management team in delivering all contracted services on-site.
  • Comply with clients policies and procedures relevant to the maintenance operation.
  • Undertake other tasks or duties as required by the management team to meet operational demands.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • City & Guilds #removed# (18th Edition) qualification.
  • Solid experience in critical environments (e.g., healthcare, education, or similar regulated settings).
  • Proficiency in managing EMS (Environmental Management Systems) and BMS (Building Management Systems).
  • Good IT skills and the ability to work confidently across digital reporting tools and PC applications.
  • A strong understanding of electrical inspection, testing, installation, and the ability to complete related certification and reports.
  • Experience with Permit to Work systems and awareness of working at height, including the use of powered access equipment and ladders.
