A well-known manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Leeds is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to perform repairs and maintenance across a commercial unit. Futures Recruitment are working with a well known manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Leeds who are looking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to carry out a wide range of repairs, planned maintenance, and general upkeep tasks across a commercial unit.

The ideal candidate will have experience in joinery, basic electrical work, plumbing, and general building maintenance. This is a varied and practical role requiring a flexible, safety-focused individual who can work independently and respond effectively to issues as they arise.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine repairs and maintenance across commercial units, offices, and site facilities.
  • Perform basic joinery tasks including door repairs, shelving, locks, skirting, and fixture installation.
  • Undertake minor plumbing works such as fixing leaks, unblocking drains, and replacing fittings.
  • Carry out painting, patching, and general fabric maintenance.
  • Perform basic electrical work such as replacing sockets, lighting, switches, sensors, and small wiring repairs (within competency).
  • Support mechanical maintenance including servicing pumps, fans, HVAC filters, motors, and general building systems.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks according to schedule.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance requests, diagnose issues, and carry out corrective actions.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and update the CMMS where required.
  • Ensure building safety systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, exits, etc.) are regularly tested and functional.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience in building maintenance, facilities engineering, or a similar hands‑on repair role.
  • Practical skills in basic joinery, mechanical repairs, and basic electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of building-related issues.
  • Confident working independently, prioritising tasks, and managing workload.
  • Good understanding of health & safety in a facilities environment.
