Job description

Location: Stockport, Manchester

Full-Time | Permanent | Days only | Monday to Friday | Early finish every Friday.

Are you a hands-on engineer with a passion for maintaining and improving production equipment in a fast-paced environment? We're looking for a skilled Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing team operating a diverse range of processing and packaging systems.

What You'll Do

As a key part of the engineering team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment by delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid reactive support. Your expertise will help minimise downtime and ensure continued production across a broad spectrum of machinery.

Responsibilities include
  • Carrying out routine PPM and urgent breakdown maintenance on a wide variety of process equipment
  • Logging maintenance activities, reporting faults, and managing spares usage through the site's systems
  • Adhering to risk assessments, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures
  • Supporting site facilities maintenance as required
  • Ensuring compliance with site Health & Safety procedures and regulations
  • Flexibly adapting your working hours to meet production demands
What You'll Bring

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 4-6 years' experience in a production/manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Qualified in both Engineering (BTec, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent)
  • Ideally 60/40 or 70/30 mechanical/ electrical bias
Technical Skills
  • Experience working with pumps, motors, process heaters and chillers, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, mixers, chemical reactors, and high-speed filling/packaging lines
  • Solid understanding of maintenance systems and procedures
  • Familiarity with food processing or packaging equipment
Soft Skills
  • Strong team player with a proactive approach
  • Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement
