Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Burton Upon Trent
Salary: £55,000
Bonuses (Approx £60,000)
Shift: (Three Shift Rotation, Monday-Friday)
Role Purpose
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across all operations. This includes high-voltage systems (up to 11kV), mobile plant, and fixed infrastructure. The role supports equipment reliability and ensures full compliance with statutory and site specific electrical safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, and maintain HV/LV electrical infrastructure, including substations, switchgear, and control panels.
- Perform electrical installations for new infrastructure and system upgrades.
- Diagnose and repair faults on equipment such as mobile plant (e.g., drills, loaders, trucks), conveyors, crushers, pumps, and ventilation systems.
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance in line with safety and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance work, and electrical schematics.
- Assist in commissioning and handover of new installations and system modifications.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, operations, and engineering teams to minimise downtime and enhance reliability.
- Adhere to the Electricity at Work Regulations, risk assessments, and site-specific procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Proven experience with mobile plant and heavy industrial electrical systems.
- HV switching and isolation competency (preferred).
- Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and motor control systems.
- Desirable experience across multiple fields of electrical engineering:
- Electrical testing and inspection
- High voltage switching procedures
- Diagnostics and repair of mobile plant systems
