Overview

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Burton Upon Trent
Salary: £55,000
Bonuses (Approx £60,000)
Shift: (Three Shift Rotation, Monday-Friday)

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across all operations. This includes high-voltage systems (up to 11kV), mobile plant, and fixed infrastructure. The role supports equipment reliability and ensures full compliance with statutory and site specific electrical safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, and maintain HV/LV electrical infrastructure, including substations, switchgear, and control panels.
  • Perform electrical installations for new infrastructure and system upgrades.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on equipment such as mobile plant (e.g., drills, loaders, trucks), conveyors, crushers, pumps, and ventilation systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance in line with safety and operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance work, and electrical schematics.
  • Assist in commissioning and handover of new installations and system modifications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, operations, and engineering teams to minimise downtime and enhance reliability.
  • Adhere to the Electricity at Work Regulations, risk assessments, and site-specific procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Proven experience with mobile plant and heavy industrial electrical systems.
  • HV switching and isolation competency (preferred).
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, and motor control systems.
  • Desirable experience across multiple fields of electrical engineering:
  • Electrical testing and inspection
  • High voltage switching procedures
  • Diagnostics and repair of mobile plant systems
