Job summary

A leading company in advanced mobility solutions is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure maximum efficiency of production line machinery. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining PLC-controlled equipment, planning preventative maintenance, and collaborating with production teams. The ideal candidate has an ONC/HNC in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in high-volume manufacturing. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with knowledge of safety regulations, are essential for this position.

Qualifications

Role Overview

The Maintenance Technician will ensure that production line machinery and equipment operate at maximum efficiency. This includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems, and resolving software or programming issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance on machinery and systems.
  • Improve and modify assembly, test, and transfer equipment.
  • Maintain electrical and mechanical plant services.
  • Support the installation of new equipment.
Required Skills and Experience
  • ONC/HNC with City & Guilds 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical, plus NVQ 2 & 3, or a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Proven expertise in repair, maintenance, and process improvement.
  • Experience with fitting, fabrication, and machining is advantageous.
  • Skilled in maintenance and fault-finding of PLC-controlled and robotic systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret equipment drawings and manuals, exercising initiative and judgment.
  • Capable of working independently and supervising own tasks while collaborating with production teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive in identifying and suggesting equipment improvements.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with a logical approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and safe engineering practices
