Job description

Personnel Selection are assisting one of our clients in sourcing an additional Machine Operative based in Andover Hampshire.

The selected candidate will be using electric textile cutting machines and industrial guillotines as well has associated hand tools. This role has become available due to a rapid period of growth and so our client would like a proactive and methodical operative to join and assist their existing teams. This will be a trainee position however candidates with a previous machine operation background or come from a design and technology background would hold an advantage. Our clients products are supplied and distributed to various industries including defence.

Working hours will be standard day shift with an early finish on Fridays, 40 hour week. Any hours worked over 40 will be at an uplifted overtime rate.

To be considered for this role you will need to meet the criteria below

  • Previously worked as a machine operative within a engineering or textiles background. - Advantageous but not essential.
  • Numerate and Literate.
  • Ability to decipher works instructions and diagrams.
  • Happy to use sharp hand tools and equipment.
  • Can show a stable and steady previous work history.
  • Able to work in a physically demanding role.
  • Strong eyesight especially with seeing definition of colour.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety and maintaining a clean working area.
  • Maintain, clean tools and machinery to ensure smooth operation.
  • Report issues with regards to breakdowns or equipment when needed.
  • Confident to collaborate and brain storm ideas with other team members.
  • Happy to take any further educational training to advance skills and qualifications in the future.
  • Currently enjoys hands on craft hobbies - advantageous but not essential.
