We are recruiting a Technical Rental coordinator to operate across both the warehouse and client-facing side of the business. This is a genuinely hybrid role: you will be advising on, booking, and prepping equipment, as well as supporting productions to deliver high-end TV commercial work on time and on budget. You will look after key commercial accounts, working closely with producers, DPs, gaffers, and production managers. Drawing on your hands‑on technical experience and strong commercial awareness, you will help clients achieve their creative ambitions while staying within their financial constraints. This role is hybrid and requires occasional in-office presence in London as needed for collaboration and team meetings. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to our London office when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for TV commercial productions, managing bookings from initial enquiry and quotation through to final invoice.
- Use rental management software (e.g. Current RMS) and spreadsheets to track availability, allocate and schedule equipment, and manage logistics.
- Provide consultative support to clients, advising DPs, gaffers, and production teams on the most suitable camera and lighting packages to achieve the brief within budget.
- Offer responsive, on‑ground support to shoots, including occasional on‑set visits or last‑minute deliveries when required.
Technical & Warehouse Operations
- Oversee and participate in the physical preparation of camera and lighting kits, ensuring all equipment is fully tested, correctly configured, and ready for set.
- Carry out basic maintenance, routine servicing, and fault‑finding, including minor repairs where appropriate; manage the “off the road” (OTR) list and ensure swift turnaround.
- Maintain accurate stock control, including sub‑hire management and general warehouse organisation.
- Keep up to date with new technologies and product releases, providing informed recommendations to management on potential new investments and upgrades.
About You
Experience & Technical Skills
- Demonstrable experience in account handling for commercials or similar production environments, combined with hands‑on prep experience in both lighting and camera.
- Strong proficiency with rental management systems (Current RMS highly preferred) and confident use of Excel/spreadsheets.
- Solid technical understanding of current camera systems, lenses, and lighting fixtures, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and advise on system compatibility.
- Experience in equipment servicing, soldering, or general electro‑mechanical repair is a significant advantage.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Methodical problem‑solver with a proven ability to diagnose both technical issues and scheduling/logistical conflicts.
- Commercially aware and client‑focused, comfortable discussing budgets, negotiating, and finding solutions that balance cost and quality.
- Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively with both technical crew and production office teams.
- Proactive and self‑motivated, with a genuine interest in camera and lighting technology and a desire to keep learning.
