Overview

We’re making a difference: Together, we can ensure that there is enough water for everyone, now and in the future. Portsmouth Water is looking for a motivated and reliable Logistics Operative to join their dynamic team!

In this role, the successful candidate will take on a range of responsibilities, including accepting deliveries, distributing stock to staff and contractors, handling chemical and material deliveries to pumping stations, and managing site waste disposal. The candidate will also operate a forklift, log goods in and out both physically and within the ERP system, perform regular stock checks and replenishment, and oversee hazardous gas and chemical deliveries. The role involves maintaining a safe, clean, and organized stores environment while ensuring smooth logistics operations.

What will you be doing?
  • Delivering excellent customer service when dealing with internal and external customers
  • Encouraging proactive and effective communications to help develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers
  • Promoting and demonstrating continuous improvements to procedures, processes and working practices to enhance the level of customer service delivery
  • Ensuring that all tasks are undertaken in an appropriate manner in line with the relevant policies and procedures/RAMS
  • Adhering to all legislation involved in the storage and transportation of hazardous substances
  • Meeting agreed Department KPI's and SLAs
  • Ensuring full compliance with legislation involved in the storage and transportation of hazardous and other substances
  • Working to, and assuring, compliance with DWI regulation 31 for storage and handling of materials in contact with the water supply

  • Counterbalance forklift licence, trailer licence, ADR trained, confined space trained would be desirable
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card, Track mounted crane (HIAB) operation desirable
  • Over 12 months experience in a stores/warehouse/logistic role would be desirable
