Working closely with your fellow colleagues in the Occupational Health Service multidisciplinary team, the role will require that you apply your professional knowledge and skills to contribute to delivering a comprehensive and effective occupational health services ensuring that high professional and quality standards are maintained on a consistent basis and in line with best practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be qualified as a consultant occupational health physician and assist in delivering the range of responsibilities expected from the role. It is anticipated that initially duties will primarily consist of delivery of clinical occupational health assessments and that with experience a wider range of activities will be undertaken. The full potential scope of those responsibilities is listed in the following paragraphs.

Qualifications & Training
  • Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Engagement in appraisal and revalidation
  • MSc or MD in Occupational Medicine
  • On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT
Experience
  • Experience managing a multidisciplinary OH team
  • Minimum 1 year Occupational Health experience in the NHS
  • Non-NHS Occupational Health experience
  • Experience in respiratory medicine, psychiatry, dermatology, or rheumatology
  • Breadth of experience in other specialties
  • Appropriate clinical knowledge
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Clinical risk management knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamworking and presentation skills
  • Teaching and educational supervision experience
  • Leadership and service development skills
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and SEQOHS standards
