Job description
Locum Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory

The closing date is 09 December 2025

This post is fixed term for nine months (with the potential to extend to 12 months) to cover maternity leave within paediatric Respiratory medicine, working within general paediatric respiratory medicine and contributing to the severe asthma service. It is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive respiratory department at RMCH, which manages complex respiratory patients within the region and quaternary patients within specific sub‑specialties.

Main duties of the job

This will be a 10 PA job comprised of the following activities:

  • General respiratory clinic
  • TB and asthma clinics
  • Elective bronchoscopy
  • Hot week
  • Asthma MDT

Qualifications and training
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent MRCPCH
  • Completion of general professional training (paediatrics)
  • Eligible for specialist registration in paediatric respiratory medicine. Should be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at interview.
  • Recent clinical experience in a tertiary paediatric respiratory service
  • MD, PhD or other higher degree

  • Publications in peer‑reviewed journals or a demonstrable commitment to developing research within this field
