Job summary

A healthcare organization in the UK is seeking a Locum Consultant in General Surgery for a 12-month post to address existing vacancies. The candidate will provide coverage for elective and emergency general surgery, perform day-case surgeries at Trafford General Hospital, and assist in assessing patients on a lower GI cancer pathway. Post Overview

This is a 12 month locum post advertised to fill existing vacancies within the Department of General Surgery. The role is for a Locum Consultant in General Surgery, with a subspecialty interest in benign upper gastrointestinal, laparoscopic hernia, day case and emergency surgery. The post holder will assist in the assessment of patients on a lower GI suspected cancer pathway. The unit provides elective and emergency general surgery, benign upper gastrointestinal, general and sub‑specialist colorectal surgery. Minimally invasive surgery is well established within our surgical service.

The post will maintain the efficiency and capacity of the Directorate of General Surgery and will include day case operating at Trafford General Hospital. Emergency and elective general surgical services are undergoing re‑organisation/transformation across MFT. The post holder will be expected to accommodate their sessions to fit into the new service. The employing Trust is Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT).
