We are pleased to offer this opportunity to join the Medical Division at the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM).
The successful applicant/s will join the General Medicine Directorate which sits in the Medicine Business Unit in the Unplanned Care Group. The Medicine Business Unit incorporates Diabetes/Endocrinology, General Medicine, Nephrology, Older Adults, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases on both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites. The consultant team will be supported by junior grade staff. Applicants will be providing Consultant leadership and support on the winter escalation ward at UHNM (Royal Stoke and County Hospital), to ensure appropriate clinical care and treatment of patients is provided over the winter period.
This post provides consultant cover for medicine escalation and outlying medical patients - one post at Royal Stoke and one post at County Hospital. You will be supported by the junior doctor team for providing high quality care and facilitate the discharge process. On occasions input will be required for other medical areas.
Diagnosis and treatment of medical patients, providing senior input on daily ward round on escalation ward, with junior medical staff supporting. Continuous clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge allowing for all proper delegation to and training of your staff. Working with consultant colleagues in other medical and surgical specialities and developing relationships with other health-related agencies.
Work pattern Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 hours.
You will take responsibility for the work, supervision and management of the junior doctor/s for winter support. If appropriate you will be named in the contracts of doctors in the training grades as the person responsible for overseeing their training and as the initial source of advice to such doctors on their careers.
