You will join a team of 13 interventional cardiologists (12 NHS and 1 PT academic interventional cardiologist) and contribute to the interventional service, providing full‑range interventional techniques and primary PCI on‑call cover. The post holder will work closely with consultant cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, allied specialities and other disciplines throughout the Trust and network.

Clinical
  • The post will form part of the consultant PCI on‑call rota, dealing with NSTEMI, STEMI and out‑of‑hospital cardiac arrest patients from the region.
  • You will provide expert care for patients admitted to the Trust and specialist interventional cardiology opinion to referring hospitals.
  • You will provide clinical expertise in the sub‑specialist area appropriate to your training and the service needs of the department.
  • You will provide inpatient opinions and, where appropriate, continuing supervision for patients with cardiology conditions.
  • You will contribute to the on‑call consultant interventional cardiologist rota at Freeman, with a 1‑in‑11 shared rota and regular day‑time on‑call PCI sessions weekly in addition to out‑of‑hours PCI coverage.
Administrative
  • You will participate in all aspects of Clinical Governance, contributing to multidisciplinary audit and risk management activities.
  • You will assist the Cardiothoracic Directorate Manager and Clinical Director in the timely investigation of complaints, working to provide reports within the timeframe set out by Trust policy.
