Salary: £32,940 + excellent benefits
Location: HMP Fosse
Working hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Serco is looking for a skilled Locksmith to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Fosse Way, one of the newest prisons in the UK. This state-of-the-art site has been specifically designed to prioritise education, training, and employment opportunities for prisoners upon their release. Our ultimate goal is to equip inmates with valuable skills and qualifications that will help them secure meaningful work in key industries and successfully reintegrate into society.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining and repairing locks, schedules, and drawings.
  • Carrying out joinery and carpentry work, and assisting other trades as part of a multiskilled engineering team.
  • Ensuring pre-planned maintenance is completed on time and recorded accurately.
  • Operating tools and equipment safely within the workshop.
  • Escorting contractors on site when required.
  • Playing a key role in the out-of-hours call-out rota, ensuring 24/7 operational support.
Requirements
  • A recognised apprenticeship or trade-based qualification.
  • Proven experience in lock repair, maintenance, metalwork or fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently in a security environment.
  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to delivering excellent service.
