Job description
Overview

Stockport Family are seeking driven, dedicated, and caring children’s social workers. Our approach centers on relationships, assessing and delivering interventions from the point a family needs support until they no longer require a statutory service, with no transition points for our families. As a Team Leader in Stockport Family, you will develop and support social workers and their practice across all levels of intervention, gaining breadth of skills and experiences to enhance your social work knowledge. You will supervise teams of six social workers and two senior practitioners and work across both duty and longer-term work. We are committed to growing our Team Leaders and supporting long-term career goals through mentoring, buddying, and regular development conversations (PDRs). We foster a friendly, welcoming team including two experienced senior practitioners and a skilled service leader. Our current social workers have appreciated the support and opportunities for development within Stockport Family, and we are committed to improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities, care leavers and ex-military personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise teams of six social workers and two senior practitioners.
  • Work across duty and longer-term work within Stockport Family.
  • Support and nurture social workers, driving forward outstanding practice for children and their families in a range of circumstances.
  • Contribute to career development through mentoring, buddying, and participation in yearly professional development reviews (PDRs).
  • Engage in reflective and clinical supervision and provide supportive supervision to teams, including opportunities for group and individual supervision.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and partners to support families, including access to specialist advice and consultation from IROs, Aspire, disability and short breaks services, and other expert teams.
Qualifications
  • Experience across both duty and locality systems.
  • Experience of private and public court proceedings and the pre-proceedings process.
  • Ability to share knowledge with others, be a team player, and continue to learn and develop.
  • Commitment to restorative practice and building strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
Benefits and Career Development
  • Modern and pleasant offices, with hybrid working options and town centre location.
  • Reimbursement of Social Work England regulator fees.
  • Full subscription to Research in Practice to access the latest research publications.
  • Discounted multi-storey parking on-site.
  • Essential Car User Allowance (to be confirmed and added before advertising).
  • Annual Ambitious Stockport Awards to recognise colleagues who live our values.
  • Comprehensive learning and development culture, with an introduction to restorative practice and ongoing CPD with protected time for development.
  • Annual professional development reviews to shape your career progression, a solid induction into social work, and reflective supervision from line managers and senior practitioners.
  • Integrated services with access to specialist advice from related teams and a corporate induction to connect with other professionals across the council.
  • Promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce with flexible/hybrid working arrangements where possible.
