Role

As a Lifting Operations Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the safe execution of all LOLER related operations across Babcock Clyde and its subcontractors. This is a pivotal role where your leadership and technical expertise will directly contribute to the safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement of operations supporting national defence.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring safe management of lifting operations in line with LOLER and BS 7121 standards.
  • Supporting the Lifting Services Lead in defining competencies and driving cultural improvement.
  • Providing expert advice to teams planning and executing lifting operations.
  • Assisting the Lifting Services Lead by providing SME advice for site wide LOLER policy and procedures.
  • Leading and developing a team of Lifting Operations Appointed Persons to meet safety, cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Managing the Lifting Operations Appointment process and providing auditing governance for these procedures.

You'll be working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, based on-site at Clyde. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites may be expected.

Essential experience
  • In-depth knowledge of lifting legislation and BS 7121 standards.
  • IOSH and/or NEBOSH certified.
  • Experience in nuclear sector safety principles.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong incident investigation and report writing capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
