Job description

The role of Lifting Club Manager is to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our Lifting Club; our in-house gym and our Reception at our HQ in Solihull, providing a quality service to our employees, customers and visitors in line with the Gymshark culture and brand and managing the inhouse team.

Please note this is a 28hr contract and while there are no fixed hours there will be an expectation to work weekends and cover the early and late shifts at the Lifting Club to see the gym operating in peak hours. This is an onsite role.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Lifting Club Management & Compliance
  • Draw up appropriate rotas for coaches, trainers and PTs, ensuring that the LC is safely open seven days a week and that staff have appropriate time off and holidays.
  • Support the development and enhancement of all Gymshark PT’s and coaches.
  • Ensure that the LC meets Gymshark’s health and safety standards and insurance requirements.
  • Responsible for smooth and safe running of internal and external events hosted at the LC.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify the LC’s maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
Maintenance Strategy & Vendor Management
  • Working with our nominated Facilities providers to proactively manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM), including scheduling inspections, servicing equipment, and minimizing downtime.
  • Establish and oversee a responsive reactive maintenance service to ensure uninterrupted gym operations.
  • Review existing processes and implement a comprehensive maintenance program tailored to the LC’s needs.
  • Input into facilities maintenance contracts, including sourcing, onboarding, and performance evaluation of vendors.
  • Working with our Facilities Management team and preferred providers, coordinate repairs and maintenance works, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Ensure that third party vendors (including food vendors) have insurance and appropriate permitting when on site for events.
Relationship Management
  • Foster strong relationships with gym members and associate members, addressing facility-related concerns with timely and effective solutions.
  • Ensure the LC has sufficient and varied classes and group activities to meet member expectations.
  • Collaborate with teams such as health & safety, legal, and finance to ensure seamless coordination of activities at the LC.
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for staff on safety procedures and equipment handling.
Budgeting & Reporting
  • Monitor and manage the LC budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, invoices, and equipment logs.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
GS-IQ Reception/Front of House
  • Manage the Reception team rotas and ensure cover during agreed working hours, holidays.
  • Ensure consistent and professional visitor experience at all times, in keeping with the Gymshark brand and brand values.
  • As with the LC Manager responsibilities, monitor and manage the FOH budget.
  • Work with the Reception team to ensure appropriate personal development plans.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Essential Criteria:
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a fitness facility or corporate gym environment.
  • Strong people management, recruitment, and coaching/development skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks, manage schedules, and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to build long lasting, trusted relationships with all levels of the business.
  • A passion for employee experience, with demonstrable experience delivering a positive work environment and delivering a high service level.
  • Proactive and forward-planning, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Comfortable with technology with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A structured, and methodical approach to co-ordinating tasks and anticipating future requirements.
  • A collaborative team player, always going above and beyond, and offering support to others where needed.
  • Level 3 Certificate in Gym Instructing or equivalent; Level 2 or 3 Personal Trainer qualification preferred.
  • Valid first aid and CPR/AED certification. Health and safety or IOSH certification preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in using gym management software.
  • Knowledge of fitness equipment maintenance and trouble-shooting.
  • Experience running corporate wellness programmes.
