Job summary

A local recruitment agency is seeking a temporary Part-Time Library Assistant for a role in Ballyclare. The successful candidate will assist library clients, register new patrons, and deliver vital community services. Essential qualifications include a minimum of 5 GCSEs (including English Language and Maths) and at least one year's experience in a public-facing service role. Immediate start available for the right candidate, with flexible working hours and competitive pay rates.

  • Register new clients and explain library services, rules, and regulations.
  • Deliver services that support the learning, information, leisure, and cultural needs of the local community.
  • Assist with the routine delivery of promotional activities.

Job Opportunity: Part-Time Library Assistant - Ballyclare

We are currently recruiting for a temporary part-time Library Assistant on behalf of our public sector client based in Ballyclare . This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within a respected public body. Immediate start available.

Working Hours (2 week rota)

Week 1: Monday 9.15-5, Tuesday 12.15-6, Thursday 12.15-5.30

Week 2: Tuesday 12.15-6, Friday 9.15-5.30, Saturday 9.15-1

Pay Rates:
  • Standard hourly rate: £13.63, Saturday rate: £20.45
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with queries using both print and electronic resources
  • Register new clients and explain library services, rules, and regulations
  • Deliver services that support the learning, information, leisure, and cultural needs of the local community
  • Assist with the routine delivery of the programme of promotional activities to include school class visits, story time, user education events, special initiatives etc.
✅ Essential Criteria:
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English Language and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) *Certificates will be required
  • At least 1 year's experience providing face-to-face service to the public
  • Experience working with young children and elderly people
  • Proficient in using ICT to access, select, and use information
