We are looking to recruit a permanent, part-time Library Assistant to join our Education team to deliver a high-quality library service, working with customers, colleagues, and the prison service.

Based at HMP Highpoint, our Library Assistants are responsible for carrying out routine library duties such as lending, shelving, developing displays, and supporting customers with diverse library and information requirements under the direction of our Library Manager.

The role provides a support service to customers to assist with their reading choices and online services. It is responsible for handling queries, signposting appropriately, and providing guidance and direction to enable customers to locate the required information. The role also contributes to outreach library services, events, and programs.

This is a part-time role, 12 hours a week.

What are we looking for?

You will have an interest in and awareness of current publishing trends, reader recommendations, and titles for various ability levels, as well as an understanding of customer service principles and practices. Experience of working within a custodial environment and creating learning resources is desirable.
