Job summary

A public health organization in Ashington is seeking a qualified Mental Health Nurse for the Community Practitioner role within the Northumberland Psychiatric liaison team. The ideal candidate will provide mental health assessments and interventions to support older adults across various sites. You will need a professional nursing qualification, experience in community mental health, and strong interpersonal skills. This role offers an engaging and supportive work setting with travel to local hospitals and community sites.

Qualifications

  • 12 to 24 months of band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
  • Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/psychological interventions/skills relevant to the post.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out mental health assessments including risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Provide ongoing liaison interventions with patients, carers, and health staff.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Skills

Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments
Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills
High level of professional, organisational and leadership skills
Ability to adapt within a changing environment
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent interpersonal skills

Education

Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD)
Post Registration Qualifications in Psychological Interventions
