A special educational institution in Birmingham is looking for Level 2 teaching assistants. Role involves supporting pupils with diverse special educational needs in a collaborative environment. Candidates should have a positive attitude and flexibility, with a focus on helping students engage meaningfully in their education. The institution values professional development and offers a comprehensive support structure.
Mayfield School is looking for positive and flexible Level 2 teaching assistants to join our growing team. Our school is a special school for 315 pupils aged between 3 and 19 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities including autism.
The school is split across two sites - Wheeler Street in Lozells (co-located with Holte School and Lozells Junior and Infant School and Nursery) and Heathfield Road in Handsworth. This position could be based on either site, working with pupils of any age and with a range of different types of special educational needs and disabilities.
At Mayfield School, teaching assistants are valued and appreciated as the largest workforce group in our organisation. Teaching assistants have a key role in supporting pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning. This is a joyful and rewarding job and one where you can really make a difference to the lives of young people and their families.
A recent Welbee staff survey showed Mayfield as being in the top 20% of schools, showing that risks of work-related stress and staff wellbeing are effectively managed and controlled. Our teaching assistants tell us that they value the in-house training offered by the school and welcome the professional development opportunities available to them.
This post could be based in any class working with pupils who may have persistent differences with social interaction, social communication and understanding emotions. Our pupils need clear boundaries and consistent support with engagement, learning, emotional regulation and sensory regulation.
