Legal Secretary - Casualty

Department: CSG - Casualty (EL/PL / Complex Injury / Disease / Fraud / Motor Injury / Vehicle Hire and Damage)

Description

We are looking for a Legal Secretary to join our market leading CSG team that works with over 40+ insurance companies and self-insured corporates across the UK.

As a Legal Secretary, you will be supporting our wider Secretarial team and Lawyers at DAC Beachcroft with day-to-day administration support to ensure our clients get the best service possible. You’ll play a key role in supporting a large team, with a varied workload that includes document preparation, billing, finance queries, payment requests, and diary management.

If you have previous secretarial experience and thrive working in a fast-paced environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you, within a collaborative and supportive team.

This role will be based at our Newport office (South Wales) and successful applicants will be required to attend the office 5 days a week during probation.

Following successfully passing your probationary period, you will then be able to discuss a more hybrid approach with your manager, in line with business requirements.

What you will do?
  • Type and proofread legal documents from digital dictation and speech recognition
  • Prepare paper/electronic bundles and use of e-bundling software
  • Filing, scanning, copying and archiving
  • Book travel and arrange client meetings
  • Access internal/external portals to upload/download documents
  • Support lawyers with admin tasks and deadlines
  • Liaise with the team to keep workflows on track
  • Assist with billing and financial queries
  • Maintain accurate client data and update systems
  • Contribute to ad hoc business development and communication activities (i.e. creating branded PowerPoint presentations, contact reports, mail merges in Word etc.)
Who you are
  • Prior experience working as Legal Secretary, Legal Administrator, or similar is essential - ideally within the legal or professional services sector
  • Hold a secretarial NVQ/Diploma or equivalent (this would be desirable, but not essential)
  • Highly skilled in the Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Skilled in audio typing with demonstratable experience
  • Good knowledge of financial/billing practices and processes
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Client-focused with excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A collaborative team player with a flexible, can‑do attitude
